Trivia / The Case of the Ghost Biker

Go To

  • Throw It In!:
    • The author didn’t plan on the SMG4 Shout-Out, but kept it in because of his love for the series.
    • He also didn't plan to have Daphne do a handstand in Chapter 12 after getting out of the pool, but decided to add it in because, in his words, "handstands are cool".
    • The Ghost Biker listening in on the heroes' battle plan with the Fly Bot device (a reference to Sonic Boom) in Chapter 13 was initially unplanned.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The author thought about giving Sonic an original girlfriend, but decided to settle for Amy instead out of respect for the community that ships Sonic and Amy. He also at one point considered Fiona Fox as his girlfriend, and Serena Mongoose at another point.
    • The author thought about making the receptionist in Chapter 3 a Mobian, but decided on a human instead.
    • Rorshach's cameo in the beginning of Chapter 4 at one point had him break out into a fight with the unnamed mustached cop over the former's broken car, but James decided that would make the cameo too long. On the subject of the cop, he was meant to be Commissioner Gordon at some point.
    • In Chapter 5, James considered Amy mentioning Sonic having an affair with Wonder Woman, but ultimately decided not to go there. Similarly, he at one point thought about adding a subplot with Sonic having an affair with Daphne, but didn't go through with it.
    • In Chapter 7, the author thought about having Velma's hotel room be next to Shaggy and Scooby's, but instead had them down a hall across each other. He also thought about having her and Shaggy share a room at some point as a reference to their romance in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
    • Several changes in Chapter 8:
      • The author almost had Sonic kiss Daphne as he was holding her, but since both of them were in a committed relationship, this was obviously a no go.
      • At one point, the Penguin and Nightwing were going to show up for the '66 Window Cameos, but the author ultimately decided on Poison Ivy, Bat Mite and Stan Lee.
      • Stan Lee was at one point going to make a comment about the 1960s (a reference to Ant-Man and the Wasp) in his cameo, instead of his final line.
    • During Batman’s cameo in Chapter 9, one of the heroes was going to ask if it was Bruce Wayne under the mask (which, of course, is true). This was cut for fear of the cameo dragging too long.
    • Several changes in Chapter 10:
      • Dr. Eggman was going to offer Sonic’s girlfriend (then a Sonic fandom character called Serena) for a short bike ride without kidnapping her, where he would then hint his connection to the Ghost Biker offscreen. The author reworked the scene into another way Eggman would hint said connection.
      • The author mentioned the gang teaming up with Wonder Woman to take down the fake Minotaur from Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?. This was changed to Wonder Woman helping them in a different way.
      • The author considered giving Shroomy a cameo to go along with the SMG4 Shout-Out, but decided that it wouldn’t make sense.
    • When Daphne flies off her bike in Chapter 11, Sonic was going to catch her in his arms like he did earlier, but she ended up landing in Fred's arms instead.
    • Daphne was originally going to wear a thong bikini in Chapter 12, but the author decided on a regular one, since she wore a thong earlier in Chapter 9.
    • At one point in the story's creation process, Sonic still had problems swimming and was going to take swimming lessons from both his girlfriend (who was presumably undecided at the time, see above) and Daphne.
    • Eggmanland was going to make an appearance after the unmasking of Dr. Eggman as the Ghost Biker before the author decided against it.
  • Working Title: The story was originally going to be called "The Strangest Crossover Adventure Ever", and while this was changed when the story was posted, the cover art keeps the original title.
