• Approval of God: According to John Huston, he consulted W.R. Burnett (author of the original novel) several times while developing the screenplay, and Burnett approved of the final script.
• Creator's Favorite Episode: Marilyn Monroe thought she gave one of her best performances as Angela Phinlay, particularly her final scene with Louis Calhern.
• Executive Meddling: Averted. MGM executive Dore Schary wanted a bigger name than Sterling Hayden to be case as Dix, but John Huston held out for Hayden.
• What Could Have Been: Lola Albright was John Huston's first choice for Angela Phinlay, but she was unavailable. Cher's mother Georgia Holt also tested for the role.
