  • Acting for Two: Glynis Barber plays Lilian Brett and her sister Sylvia in "The Dead Don't Steal".
  • California Doubling: A beach in East Anglia stands in for the Jordan Desert in "Would You Believe It?" Also, Devon plays Jamaica in "The Boy Who Talked with Animals." Averted with "Scrimshaw", both set and shot in Florida (specifically Key West).
  • Overtook the Manga: It started out adapting Roald Dahl stories, but eventually used them all up and began adapting from other material.
  • Playing Their Own Twin: David Cassidy in "Heir Presumptuous" plays a pair of identical twins.
  • Self-Remake: "Stranger in Town" is a remake of the 1952 short film "The Stranger Left No Card". Both versions were directed by Wendy Toye. The original was her first work directed for film or television, and the remake was her last.
  • Variations on a Theme Song: Series 4's "The Boy Who Talked With Animals" has the ending theme replaced with a version played on steel instruments, reflecting the story's Caribbean setting.
  • You Look Familiar: Many, many actors appeared more than once across the series. For instance, Julie Harris appears twice - "All The Way to Heaven" and "Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel's Coat". Roland Culver, who plays Julie Harris' husband in the former, also shows up in "Death Can Add". Susan George turns up in "Royal Jelly" and "Lamb to the Slaughter". The actor with the most appearances is Andrew Ray, who features six times: "Royal Jelly", "Poison", "The Way to Do It", "The Wrong 'Un", "The Best Chess Player In The World" and "Accidental Death". However, this is an anthology series with no continuity.
