Trivia / Świat według Kiepskich

Go To

  • The Character Died with Him: Given the Long-Runners nature of the series, more than expected.
    • Krystyna Feldman (Rozalia Kiepska or just Grandma) is a curious case. When the series wrapped up in 2005 (seemingly to end there), she was alive and well and so was her character. When the production was restarted in 2007, she died mere weeks before filming, and her character never made a return.
    • Subverted with Bohdan Smoleń (Edzio the mailman), despite recurring Urban Legend. He quit the series on his own in 2015 due to worsening health and related issues, dying almost two years later after his final appearance in the series. His character was meanwhile relocated to different post office and is mentioned few times after the actor left.
    • Both Dariusz Gnatowski (Arnold Boczek) and Ryszard Kotys (Marian Paździoch) have died in a relatively short order (respectively 20th October 2020 and 27th January 2021). Since that happened before production of a new season started and they were integral part of the Power Trio, everyone assumed this would mean the end of the series. The final, only 12-episodes long season was filmed without them and gained rather contested reception from everyone. Eventually, deaths of Gnatowski and Kotys were the final nails in the coffin, as in June 2022 the series was confirmed to have ended.
    • Various recurring characters, particularly the elderly ones, were slowly, but surely dying out along with the actors portraying them.
  • Cut Short: Happened twice:
    • First time, in 2005, the series was not renewed, citing low viewership. However, endless fan petitions and general viewers asking for more eventually lead to renewal in 2007, producing more episodes than the initial run.
    • The second time happened due to death of two lead actors (see The Character Died with Him) - this time, however, for good.
  • I Am Not Spock: With the exception of Andrzej Grabowski (Ferdek), Krystyna Feldman (Grandma), Bohdan Smoleń (Edzio the mailman), and, to an older audience, Ryszard Kotys (Paździoch) - who each have (or had, before passing away) notable careers outside of the series - every single regular actor ends up remembered as the Kiepscy character first and foremost; and even the ones mentioned above get that often enough.
    • Kotys takes it a step further, though. He had a stable career of playing smarmy, but scheming, greedy and cut-throat characters that tend to be mean to people for decades, along with being more of a character actor. Ever since first few episodes have been aired, he became forever associated with Paździoch, who is the exaggeration of the type of characters he usually played. The fact he barely played any other roles in the final 20 years of his life and career only made it worse - including people accidental referring to him as "Marian Kotys", using the name of his character.
  • Star-Making Role: Andrzej Grabowski was a stage actor with but a handful of roles (as bit characters) in movies before taking the part of Ferdek, the main character. The role elevated him to one of the most recognisable actors in the Polish film industry, with an entire slew of different roles and projects, even if he had to fight tooth and nail against Typecasting. In fact, by his own admission, he took part in the Pitbull miniseries (and then a franchise) solely to remind people that no, he's not Ferdynand Kiepski... only to end up associated with the role of Gebels in turn.
  • What Could Have Been: A few other actors were considered for the role of Ferdek, including Janusz Gajos of Czterej pancerni i pies fame.
