Trivia / Silent Hill: The Short Message

• Content Leak: The game's concept art and title was leaked some years ago even though it was never mentioned by Konami until it was shadow dropped on Jan 31st 2024's State of Play.
• Sequel Gap: Not counting Ascension, which is less a video game and more an interactive series, this is the first Silent Hill game to be released since 2014's P.T., giving a gap of almost ten years. If one considers P.T. simply a demo and not a proper installment, then this is the first game since 2012's Downpour, making the gap roughly twelve years.
• Surprise Release: The game was announced on the PlayStation State of Play of January 31, 2024, then became available to play later that day. What was especially surprising is that the project had been rumored for many years before release (Masahiro Ito's design of Sakura Head going back as early as 2016), and it wasn't ever teased as part of Konami's splurge of announcements of upcoming Silent Hill projects in late 2022 (where projects like Silent Hill: Ascension, the Silent Hill 2 remake, and Silent Hill f were announced).
