- Cross-Regional Voice Acting: The English cast is mostly voice actors from New York (eg the Pokemon anime and Muppets) with Califorina actors (Jim Cummings, JB Blanc, China Anne Mc Clain, Ross Marquand and Lex Lang) with British actor Tom Felton and Australian actor Ruby Rose.
- Dueling Movies: It was released in Russia a few weeks after KikoRiki. Legend of the Golden Dragon which has a similar moral and also involves a character accidentally turned into something else trying desperately to change back before it's too late.
- Playing Against Type: Tom Felton, most known for playing villains and bullies such as Draco Malfoy, voices the kindhearted albeit immature prankster Grey.
- Release Date Change: The film was originally going to be released in late 2015 but it was delayed to April 2016.
- What Could Have Been: Bianca was originally going to have a lighter fur color than in the final product, but the designers realized it didn't look good compared to Grey.
