Trivia / Scorpions (Band)

Go To

  • Chart Displacement: "Rock You Like a Hurricane" didn't even enter the German charts. Whether it warrants being only the band's fourth most viewed on Youtube (behind "Wind of Change", "Send Me An Angel" and "Still Loving You") is also disputable.
  • Doing It for the Art: The reason why Uli Jon Roth left the band: he felt they were getting too commercial, and he also felt stifled by their musical constraints and wanted to do something vastly different from what the rest of them wanted to do and knew that his own personal vision would never work in a Scorpions context.
    • This rift is documented in "I've Got to be Free", from Taken By Force. What's hilarious is that Roth wrote a song about his disgruntlement, and then made Meine sing it.
  • The Pete Best:
    • Arguably, Curt Cress, who recorded Pure Instinct, but was replaced by James Kottak soon after.
    • Numerous bassists and drummers, before the lineup solidified with Buchholz and Rarebell - and the ones that replaced them before the band settled for Mąciwoda and Kottak.
  • Referenced by...: Canadian figure skater Iliya Kovler performed to "Maybe I, Maybe You" for his short program during the 2018-2019 competitive season.
  • Streisand Effect: In 2008, The Other Wiki's page of the Virgin Killer album became one of the most popular pages on the site after the UK-based Internet Watch Foundation blacklisted it for containing "a potentially illegal indecent image of a child under the age of 18, and the image was even spread across other sites as a result of the publicity. The IWF de-listed it three days later.
  • Two-Hit Wonder: While they have had major success in the States, they only scored two Top 40 hits in the country with "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and "Wind of Change".
