Trivia / Scorpion

  • Accidental Downer Ending: The last episode before the series was cancelled had the team breaking up into two competing companies.
  • Actor Allusion:
    • In "Risky Business", Paige says she had tried singing at one point. Katharine McPhee was the runner-up on season 5 of American Idol before switching from singing to acting. This is also an allusion to her role on Smash.
    • In "Dominoes", Gallo's Christmas present is a pair of sunglasses. In a Season 1 episode, he also complains about how people's growing addiction to technology will lead to "the rise of machines".
    • In a Season 2 episode, Gallo joking calls Walter "John McClane". Robert Patrick played a Mook in Die Hard 2.
  • The Cast Showoff: Katharine McPhee gets a chance to sing in "Risky Business", "Sun of a Gun" and "The Old College Try."
  • Dawson Casting: The actress playing Sylvester's 15-year-old intern, Patty, is 17-going-on-18.
  • Romance on the Set: Katharine McPhee (Paige) dated Elyes Gabel (Walter) while they worked together on the show.
  • Screwed by the Network: CBS pulled the plug at the worst possible time, with the fourth season capped off seeing the whole team in the middle of a feud and the show ending with the prospect that there will not be a happy future for anybody.
  • Viral Marketing: In "Forget Me Nots", a real phone number (323-248-8049) is important to the plot. If you call the number, you get a pre-recorded message from Walter in which he asks you to decode a substitution cipher to prove yourself "worthy" of joining the Scorpion team.
