Trivia / Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Go To

  • Creator Killer: While the game actually did respectably well in sales terms — in fact, aside from Resident Evil – Code: Veronica and the two Revelations entries, it remains the highest-selling Resident Evil game outside of the main series (and remakes of entries in the main series) — it wasn't enough to prevent Slant Six Games from going bust the following year, apparently due to Slant Six's share of the royalties (after Capcom took their share) not being enough to recoup the money they had lost from several other games that got cancelled mid-development.
  • Dolled-Up Installment: Operation Raccoon City was made from a repurposed engine originally meant for the canceled Star Wars: Battlefront III.
  • Easter Egg: A few. One example is in the early Raccoon City stages, particularly in City Hall. Look at some of the paintings on the wall. Hey, isn't that Veronica Ashford? Yep, the Ashford family portraits can be found in the city. You can even encounter Alfred Ashford's in one of the rooms.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The game was removed from purchase on Steam in 2021, due to problems caused by the discontinued Games For Windows Live service, and have yet to continue selling the game on the platform. The DLC, however, can still be purchased.
  • Word of Gay: According to the writers, Dee-Ay, the leader of the Spec Ops unit, is gay. His codename is a reference to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
