• Extremely Lengthy Creation: Urobuchi wrote the script immediately after finishing Kamen Rider Gaim, over 10 years before it was released.
• Saved from Development Hell: It was stuck in development hell for much of the mid-to-late 2010s. Initially, Gen Urobuchi expressed no interest on working on another Madoka project. Finally though, after 8 years and multiple teases for a new installment (including an infamous concept trailer in 2015), the movie was announced in 2021 for a 2024 release date. Urobuchi eventually went back on his words, since he wrote the script for this movie as well (albeit in 2015-2016).
• Sequel Gap: This movie is set to be released in 2024, 11 years after Rebellion.
