• Banned Episode: "Ash and Passimian! A Touchdown of Friendship!!" was banned from the English dub due to Ash's Passimian outfit including brown facepaint, looking similar to blackface.
• Follow the Leader: With its Genre Shift towards slice-of-life comedy as opposed to action and adventure and Denser and Wackier animation, this series is often seen as an attempt to ape Yo-kai Watch, which in Japan rivals and even outdoes the success of Pokémon (especially the movies, of which Pokémon has suffered diminishing box office returns).
• Posthumous Credit: Unshō Ishizuka, a regular in the Japanese version, died midway through the series airing. He voiced Sophocles' Charjabug throughout the series, with Stock Footage used for the remainder of its appearances until its evolution into Vikavolt.
• Uncredited Role: The Japanese voice actor for Ash's Incineroar is never given.
