  • Colbert Bump:
    • Quite a few people discovered the band after Phil Anselmo joined in the late 90s, as Pantera were still together and one of the biggest names in all of metal at the time. Subverted, however, as elitism was still prominent at the time and the band's target audience quickly reacted with scorn to Phil's involvement, accusing him of only joining for underground clout (which was completely untrue, as he and Killjoy had known each other for several years beforehand), which in turn meant their increase in popularity was extremely short lived.
    • Averted when Mick Thomson joined briefly as a session guitarist on Deathtrip 69, as despite Slipknot's immense popularity, hardly anyone knew he was on the album and his involvement did virtually nothing for them, even despite his appearance being promoted. This was likely due to the album being delayed several years following its announcement, which possibly led people to forget.
  • Posthumous Credit: All of Killjoy's parts for Moribundis Grim were recorded just before his passing and left unaltered for the album. John McEntee (Incantation) was brought in to finish the remaining vocal tracks.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Mick Thomson was a huge fan of the band for years before he was brought in for Deathtrip 69.
  • Sequel Gap: Holocausto de la morte was released over 11 years after their debut album.
  • Similarly Named Works: Two other well-known death metal bands share extremely similar names to them, Necrophobic and Necrophagist. The latter especially given that it's only two letters off, to the extent that numerous people get them mixed up to this day.
