Development Hell: The story is notorious for being on hiatus for over four years, with no sequel in sight. According to Word of God, the reason is that the story wasn't as profitable as The Freshman or The Crown & The Flame, two other stories released on Choices' launch along with Most Wanted. It gets to the point that many players weren't surprised when the planned sequel was finally cancelled.
Word of God: On September 25, 2023, Pixelberry finally revealed how the cancelled Book 2 would have played out. Sam would have stayed in Los Angeles to help Dave solve the mystery of Hayley Rose's murder. The murder trail would have led to a cult based on an obscure 70s book series, and Hayley (who was a member of the cult) was killed in prison to stop her from exposing them. Her killer (and the Big Bad) would have been a huge psychopathic cultist that called himself "The Beast", and he had surgery performed on himself to look like one of the monsters from the book series. Near the end of Book 2, The Beast would have taken people hostage, and Sam and Dave would have had to rescue them, with the fate of the hostages and The Beast depending on the player's prior choices. The book would have ended with Sam and Dave sharing a Big Damn Kiss, and Sam elects to stay in L.A and work alongside Dave at the LAPD.
