  • Colbert Bump: All three fell into obscurity until Pan Pizza and Peter Paltridge covered the Christmas special.
  • Copiously Credited Creator: The Christmas special really feels like a big passion project for G. Brian Reynolds, who not only wrote the screenplay and lyrics, but also animated the special's entirety with only one other animator.
  • Descended Creator: G. Brian Reynolds directed, wrote, animated and penned lyrics for the specials in addition to voicing Bert, Teddy, Wilbur and Baggs.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • The three specials were put on VHS, but are long since out-of-print. At least one of the specials was released on DVD in Australia; a DVD release in the USA or UK has yet to be announced. The company Go Digital currently holds digital rights to the three specials and makes them available sometimes on various Video-on-Demand services. As of September 2021, all three specials are available in the USA on Tubi.
    • Prior to the specials, a short-lived comic strip was made for Reader's Digest Junior. Prints of this strip are hard to come by.
  • Short-Runners: Only three specials with the Mirthworms were produced. No other shorts have been made (it's unknown whether or not any more were planned) and unlike much of 1980s animation, it wasn't Merchandise-Driven.
  • What Could Have Been: According to this promotional flyer, an animated Mirthworm series was attempted by Ruby-Spears. Details are unknown and no scripts, storyboards, etc. have been found at present.
