Much of the album reflects this with Paul messing around with home studio equipment and fragmentary songs, trying to find his own voice as a solo artist.
- Dueling Works: It's often compared with John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, John's first solo outing following the Beatles' breakup. Both albums feature a stripped-down DIY aesthetic and emotional vulnerability as the artists try to find their own identity. All Things Must Pass is often compared as well, also released in 1970 and a tour-de-force for George Harrison.
