The film:

• Box Office Bomb: Budget, $7.5 million. Box office, $1.1 million. The film suffered numerous changes and budget boosts, which only caused more trouble for the film, and it got shoved into international theaters while only appearing on television in American markets. It became the lowest grossing Marvel film of all time.
• California Doubling: Set in USA, actually filmed in Australia.
• Fake American: Almost all the cast members are Australians putting on deep southern accents, apart from Matthew Le Nevez whose accent is midwestern.
• Fake Nationality: Māori-New Zealander Rawiri Paratene as Native American Peter Horn.
• Production Throwback: Notably two of the minor characters are named after two of the original Man-Thing comic writers: Steve Gerber and Mike Ploog.
