  • Acting for Two: In the Russian dub, Maryana Spivak voiced both Suzy from "Beyond the Aquila Rift" and Gale from "Ice Age".
  • Approval of God: John Scalzi, Ken Liu, and Marko Kloos have expressed positive feelings towards the adaptations of their short stories.
  • Divorced Installment: The series began life as a reboot of Heavy Metal back in 2008, but with no studio willing to fund it and Robert Rodriguez holding the rights to it, it went on hold until Netflix approved of the idea, and spun it off as its own thing.
  • International Coproduction: Animation-wise; most of the shorts, with the exceptions of two or three per season (which were animated by Blur themselves), are animated by studios in Hungary, France, Spain, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada under the supervision of Blur Studio.
  • Motif: At the beginning of the main title sequence, an innocuous circle flanked by two rectangles are visible at the bottom of the frame. These resemble the peg holes in celluloid sheets - a subtle tribute to traditional animation.
  • Out of Order: Netflix took advantage of the anthology nature to experiment with at least 4 different episode orders. Heck, Netflix lists the seasons in reverse order, and the order of the episodes within are all kinds of screwed up. IMDB has attempted to standardise the viewing order for review purposes, and the recap page on This Very Wiki also uses that runtime order.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: The difference isn't really big (they are all shorts), but episodes that are outright CGI tend to be a bit longer and/or more fluid - because they cost less to make.
