Trivia / Jute Gyte

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: He admits he's not fond of some of his oldest music and outright tells new listeners not to start with it, but he still makes it (with the exceptions of the early noise album Thanatron and a few early EPs, which are excluded for unclear reasons) available on his Bandcamp so that people don't have to Keep Circulating the Tapes. He also says he usually isn't too satisfied with his latest releases starting at around about a month after they come out, but typically warms up to them after a year or two.
  • Doing It for the Art: Kalmbach seems to have devoted himself to his creation process. He manages to be so prolific largely by spending most of his free time on music; he doesn't tour and works part-time so he can spend most of his time on composing and assembling tracks in the studio. As a result, he has (as of May 2021) managed to release thirty-two full-length albums as Jute Gyte since 2006 while maintaining a consistently high standard of quality.
  • He Also Did: It's unclear how he even managed to have time with Jute Gyte's release schedule, but according to Metal Archives, Kalmbach is also the person behind the dark ambient/dungeon synth projects Abandoned Places (2011-2015), Erdstall (2012-2013), Fortress of Mystery (2013-2017), Loremaster (2012), Mystic Towers (2012-2016), Siliniez (2012-2014), Voormithadreth (2016-2017), and Zweilicht (2012). The atmospheric black metal band Failure Ritual (2012-2015) is also suspected to be his work, but this is not yet confirmed.
  • Reclusive Artist: Kalmbach doesn't maintain a social media presence (unless Bandcamp counts), displays little interest in self-promotion, and only occasionally gives interviews.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: Many of his works were recorded years before they were released. For example, Ressentiment and Vast Chains were both completed in 2012, but not released until 2014.
  • Similarly Named Works: Jute Gyte's first metal album Old Ways is named after a 1985 Neil Young album of the same title.
