- Box Office Bomb: Budget: $35 million. Box office gross: $16.1 million. That film put the Gaumont production company dangerously in the red at the time, and was a major reason the original film didn't get a second sequel for a long time. The Un-Reboot Bastille Day was eventually made, in 2016.
- Bury Your Art: Gaumont did not bother releasing the film on Blu-ray nor producing new DVDs of it. Tellingly, the Les Visiteurs Boxed Set only includes the three French films, Blu-ray or DVD alike.
- Money, Dear Boy: The cast and director admitted this was the only reason they agreed to do this film. The whole remake idea was initiated by John Hughes, who loved Les Visiteurs.
- Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: The film was made in English language. Jean Reno and Christian Clavier redubbed themselves in French.
- Recursive Import: This remake was dubbed in France as Les Visiteurs en Amérique.
- Self-Remake: A Foreign Remake of Jean-Marie Poiré's Les Visiteurs, filmed by Poiré himself and starring Jean Reno and Christian Clavier once again.
