- Dueling Works: It is one of four 2024 films to revolve around imaginary friends. The other ones being the Live-Action Adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon starring Zachary Levi, IF (2024) starring Ryan Reynolds, and Studio Ponoc's The Imaginary (which already came out in Japanese cinemas the previous December). The key difference is that those other films are family-friendly while this one is a horror film.
- It is also this with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, being films about killer teddy bears that came out around the same time, even though Winnie the Pooh is a real bear in Blood and Honey instead of a Living Toy.
- Similarly Named Works: There is a 2014 English children's book also about imaginary friends called The Imaginary written by J.F. Harold. The book would get an anime film adaptation that would see a theatrical release in Japan mere months before this film, and is scheduled to see an international release on Netflix months after this film. Take note that the anime is called Yaneura no Rudger note (Rudger on the Attic) in Japan, which is the book's Market-Based Title there.
- Uncredited Role: Bryce McGuire, who also wrote and directed Night Swim (released in the same year and also produced by Blumhouse), contributed an uncredited draft of the script.
