- Alan Smithee: Director Masato Harada's title card was changed for the U.S. release, as a gag from AD Vision.
- Creator Breakdown: The double whammy of this and Godzilla vs. Biollante both ending up as box office bombs caused long time Toho special effects director Koichi Kawakita to end up developing a drinking problem as he took the attendance failures of both movies personally.
- Divorced Installment: Originally written as a Godzilla film for a story contest Toho held. It came in second place to the first draft of Godzilla Vs Biollante. Rather than scrap the idea, Toho instead had it heavily reworked by removing Godzilla and other elements from it until they were left with the final product.
- Follow the Leader: It is, for all extents and purposes, a Japanese Terminator film, with Kyron-5 in the place of Skynet.
- Sampling: Parts of this movie was used by industrial band Frontline Assembly for the video of their song Mind Phazer.
