Trivia / Esperando La Carroza

Go To

  • Acting for Two: A downplayed example, but Luis Brandoni plays both Antonio and Antonio's father, who only appears in a black and white picture that Mama Cora caresses after Jorge mistreats her.
  • Creator Cameo: A variation: the owners of Elvira and Sergio's house, their real-life neighbors and frequent elderly visitors to a nearby park cameo in several parts of the movie, like during Mamá Cora's wake or the ending. Even Susana and Jorge's baby was a neighbor, and continued living in the Versalles neighborhood where the film was made for years afterwards.
  • Cross-Cast Role: Mamá Cora is played by Antonio Gasalla, a comedian well-known for his many female personas. He ended up adopting the character for his own shows.
  • He Also Did: One of the film's mic operators was Pedro Saborido, who would later become famous as a scriptwriter for comedian Diego Capusotto (and the reason for Capusotto's comedy show being titled Peter Capusotto y sus videos, "Peter" being the English form of "Pedro").
  • The Other Darrin: Julio de Grazia passed away in 1989, so Jorge was played by Roberto Carnaghi in the sequel.
  • Real-Life Relative: Juan Manuel Tenuta and Andrea Tenuta, who play Sergio and his daughter Matilde respectively, were father and daughter in real life as well.
  • Role Reprise: Juan Manuel Tenuta is the only actor who reprised his role from the original stage play in the film.
  • What Could Have Been: Director Alejandro Doria originally envisioned legendary Argentine comic actress Niní Marshall as Mamá Cora. However, he decided against it due to how humiliating the role is (given all the bad things that happen to Mamá Cora through the film), thinking that it would come off as cruel is portrayed by an actual elderly woman, and thinking that as portrayed by Antonio Gasalla (a younger man in drag) it bought more levity to the role.
