Trivia / Digital Underground

  • Missing Episode: The original music video version of "Return of the Crazy One" had more explicit nudity and sex scenes, but it wouldn't air on MTV unless edits were made (i.e., nudity blurred out, sexual scenes replaced with less explicit material, etc). The original one has not been released or shown anywhere.
  • One-Hit Wonder: "The Humpty Dance", of course. Other minor hits were "Same Song" (which was only popular because it was in the movie, Nothing but Trouble), "Freaks Of The Industry", "Kiss You Back," "Wussup Wit the Luv," and "Doowutchyalike".
  • What Could Have Been: Digital Underground was originally supposed to be like N.W.A and Public Enemy (read: militant black with lyrics about how racism against black people is still rampant, even in this era of tolerance and acceptance), but the band didn't want to be clones of those groups and opted for something more fun and upbeat (though some songs do address issues about racism and violence in the black community).
