Trivia / Dave.EXE

  • Dummied Out:
    • Despite ending up unused, Vendeed actually has themes in the game's files. Twilight had this same case before she ended up being added legitimately herself.
    • A lot of killers have prototype or 'version 1' chase themes still in the game files, with their used themes typically being labeled something like 'version 2/3'.
    • In the files exists a barely-textured wings model for Dave that goes unused, though it looks to be a scrapped cosmetic or item.
    • Originally Dave was going to have lines for when the player dodge-rolled into killers. The mechanic was scrapped but all three of his lines are still in the files.
    • In the files exist animations of Lanky Lonky using Lonky Lanky as a flamethrower and as a grenade launcher. He never does either of those in-game, so the animations go unused.
    • Rooftop Rumble was a Winky Wonky City map for a long while before being removed as it was widely disliked and its layout was difficult for several killers to traverse. Data still exists for it in the files, which is why WWC has 5 maps instead of the 4 every other world gets.
    • In the files exists two themes, one chase and one "lost", for an unused character named TABEE. Interestingly, both themes seem to be prototype versions of BUNKY's chase theme.
    • The files contain an unused map titled the Wesker Warehouse. It's clearly unfinished, being rather open and largely untextured. Besides some decorative shelves and the vending machines, the only thing of note is Randy, who spawns and does idle animations near the map spawn but never moves or chases Dave.
      • As of a more recent update, the last vending machines have been addednote , the idle Randy has been removed, and the map was given a proper navmesh and killer spawn.
    • An unused nearby theme for the Glorguards existed in the files, seemingly indicating that during development they were more akin to the other killers. Said theme has been removed entirely from the files, suggesting it's gone for good.
    • The files possess three themes, "Nocturnal Discussions", "Silent Town", and "Halloween Spoops" which all are unused and have no known purpose at all.
    • As indicated by several files, Polarsnap was originally called "Polaroid" and the Cursed Seeker was originally called the "Cursed BurBur".
    • Snitches are internally referred to as merely Sylvester Minions.
    • Desperado Duck possesses an edgy variant that is complete enough to be summoned via commands, but Edgy Desperado Duck can't be encountered via normal means.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Word of Saint Paul lists the inspirations for Randy being Randy Savage, Robot Randy, and Toy Robotus.
  • Orphaned Reference: One of the Edgy Propaganda posters features Edgy BUNKY as an example of the effects of Edgy Dave's collars. Edgy BUNKY no longer exists in the game, having been replaced by TUNKY in the Helping Hand update, though the update did not remove nor update the poster.
  • Permanent Placeholder: Occasionally, Sylvester will say "Insert spotted dialogue." instead of any normal one-liner when seeing the player. From Word of God, this is a joke rather than a true placeholder, and will be kept.
  • Word of Saint Paul:
    • By the co-creator was revealed what the above-mentioned inspirations for Randy were.
    • It was revealed by an artist that Lumi's Wounded Gazelle Gambit is actually unintentional.
