• Creator Backlash: Series producer Koji Igarashi, who did not oversee the game, went on record to criticize several aspects of Circle's design. He was not a fan of the controls, graphical style, or DSS card system, though he admitted his issue with the latter had more to due with lore than gameplay. The game also ended up retconned out of the series timeline.
• What Could Have Been: Hugh is playable in the TGS 2000 demo, suggesting that he was going to be as such in the final version as another Arrange Mode.
