Trivia / Burr: An American Musical

  • Adaptation Sequence:
    • Out of universe: Historical events → historians’ interpretations of those events, including Ron Chernow’s → Hamilton, mostly based off of Chernow’s interpretation of the historical events → it feels more like a memoryBurr: An American Musical.
    • In-Universe: Historical events → historians’ interpretations of those events → Burr: An American Musical.
  • Inspiration for the Work:
    • Out of universe, someone asked the author if they ever think about what the musical Hamilton would look like in the second timeline of it feels more like a memory, and what stance people would take on a historical debate over those second timeline events (which became history In-Universe). The author replied with the musical synopsis and Word of God about it and its reception, and what the debates over those historical events would look like.
    • In-Universe, Lin-Manuel Miranda picked up Maria Lewis Reynolds Clingman Matthew's autobiography in an airport, and saw strength in her story of getting herself out of multiple abusive situations and potentially saving the world by saving Aaron's predictions (most notably, the one about "clouds of mushrooms will only rain death," which a good deal of the world credits as one of the only reasons there wasn't a nuclear war). Then he decided to write this musical.
  • Self-Adaptation: Out of universe, Burr: An American Musical is savrenim’s adaptation of chapters 28–35 of their fanfic it feels more like a memory.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The author's notes at the end of act 2 (chapter 3) reveal that a version of "What'd I Miss" from real-life Hamilton that savrenim co-wrote with lostnebula13 would have opened act 2 instead of No John Trumbull if the events the version of "What'd I Miss" covered weren't already dealt with in the first act.
    • According to Word of God in the comments here, every song could have been annotated in a manner similar to those on the lyric website Genius: analysis of the lyrics with commentary on the themes in the fic, and links to fake historical documents that would have actually existed In-Universe when appropriate.
