Trivia / Buffalo Springfield

  • Breakthrough Hit: "For What It's Worth"
  • Breakup Breakout: From the ashes of the group, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Poco, and Neil Young's solo career (and Neil's tenure with CSN) were formed.
  • Executive Meddling: After the success of "For What It's Worth", Atco Records saw Stephen Stills as the most important member despite the fact that songwriting and vocal duties were shared by Stills, Neil Young, and Ritchie Furay. As a result, when Young submitted "Mr. Soul" as a potential single, it was instead used as the b-side to Stills' "Bluebird", contributing further to Stills and Young's rivalry.
  • One-Hit Wonder: "For What It's Worth" is their only top forty hit nationwide.
  • Short-Lived, Big Impact: Lasted only two years and three albums, and primarily known for one song, but they are influential in folk rock and the counterculture.
