Trivia / Bomberman Tower

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The older builds of the game, particularly the pre-1.0 versions, are not archived anywhere.
  • Meaningful Release Date: 1.1 was released a day before Halloween.
  • Saved from Development Hell: Version 1.0 was released proper in 2022, the last version prior being 0.7.5 all the way in 2017.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The game's music was originally done by the lead developer themself, created with OpenMPT and based off the Virtual Boy soundchip. While the music cover choices were the same, a notable aspect is that several tracks remixed two melodies instead of one to prevent repetition. The final game's soundtrack was made with FL Studio, only remixes a single tune per track, and is more sample-based.
    • Mummy Bomber originally summoned Homing Bombs that would follow the player during his first phase, it was scrapped because filling several spots on the map with bombs was deemed more effective.
      • A Homing Bomb was then given to Bombpire, but due to a change in plans that would make the rest of Midnight Bombers into playable characters and also, funny enough, the same exact reason the attack was left out from Mummy's boss fight, it was scrapped again.
    • Mummy Bomber's second phase was supposed to include a swarm of Locusts on the top of the screen that would swoop down and transform into Big Locusts and chase the player around before returning to the swarm. The difficulty in programming the attack and deadlines ended up having it cut, but the Big Locusts wound up being salvaged as the generator enemies in Symbol Ruins when 1.0 came along.
    • Devil Bomber did not exist before 1.0, and the game ended with Bombpire escaping. The Dance Party Ending would have instead happened at his boss room.
    • In a case of "what used to be", prior to 1.3, Drifting Desert had larger maps, these were tuned down to 3/4 of their previous size in response to player feedback.
    • A Spiritual Successor called Bomberman Jump was conceptualized. It would have been a 2½D game featuring more characters, a full remake of Tower's Normal Game and multiplayer support. It was scrapped, with much of its planned content being turned into updates for Tower itself.
