Trivia / Bomberman Max

Go To

  • The first Bomberman Max is one of the few games to make use of the Game Boy Color's infrared port, doing so rather extensively: two players can battle Charaboms and share version-exclusive levels via IR, while "step on the hidden tile" missions give players the option to unlock a bonus game by feeding the GBC an infrared signal.
  • Follow the Leader: The dual-version setup and Charabom battling (in lieu of standard Bomberman multiplayer) were obvious attempts to attract Pokémon fans.
  • Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: In 2000, Bomberman Max: Ain Version was made as a Japan only limited edition (only 2,000 copies exist) available through a lucky draw contest by the Pentel Ain ad campaign in CoroCoro Comic. Outside of some instances of product placement, it is essentially the Blue version with all levels unlocked without the need for connectivity.
