Trivia / Blinx

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: Blinx is now widely known as the profile image and branding of Poorly Aged Stuff, a Twitter account that is what you expect: stuff that is poorly aged.
  • Invisible Advertising: Blinx 2 had very little marketing or coverage from Microsoft as they were focusing on all their time and money advertising Fable and especially Halo 2.
  • Screwed by the Network: Blinx 2 was released one week after Halo 2 to little fanfare, resulting in the franchise's early demise.
  • Stillborn Franchise: The series came to an abrupt end when the second game underperformed compared to Halo 2, so Microsoft showed no further interest in continuing. In 2015, the trademark for Blinx was abandoned, leaving it buried.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • As already stated, Blinx was supposed to be Microsoft's answer to characters like Mario and Sonic. Master Chief's popularity and the franchise's overall unpopularity derailed that.
    • Blinx was originally designed similarly to the fairy tale character Puss n' Boots and was going to be colored purple.
    • Some art implied Blinx was also going to use his sweeper to suck up enemies like in Luigi's Mansion.
    • An unused level called "Dimension X" was cut from the first game.
    • Blinx 2 was going to give the Tom-Tom gang realistic weapons, but was changed back to cartoony weapons in ordered to secure an E-rating.
    • The ending to Blinx 2 hinted at a third game, which never came to be due to the game's failure and the closure of developer Artoon in 2010.
