- Creator Killer: The film's poor reception and indifferent box-office performance meant that Larry Hagman never got the opportunity to direct another film after this one, albeit his acting career wasn't particularly hurt, and he did carry on directing television for many years afterwards.
- Referenced by...: Monster Hunter (PC) have Blob Monster enemies, and a King Mook version of said monster fought in a stage called "Beware, The Blob!"
- Throw It In!: Larry Hagman didn't much care for the script, and so allowed the guest stars he recruited — many of whom were from stand-up comedy backgrounds — to improvise their own dialogue. Only the final act was filmed largely as written, and even then with some major deviations from the script.
