Just because Cookie Run is a generally sweet game, it doesn't mean it can't get the waterworks flowing.
- While most Bake My Day shorts are adorable, the one for Lobster Cookie and Mocha Ray Cookie isn't. It starts with a flashback when Sugarteara was prosperous and Mocha Ray gives Lobster Cookie his signature crystal claw. Then it reveals that it's nothing but a memory as Mocha Ray solemnly continues her search to find her friend. The ending hits it home when the plate that reveals their cookies only shows Mocha Ray, signaling that he's gone.
- The one with Starfruit Cookie and Pomegranate Cookie is worse. Starfruit has a dream about how she would become the oracle for the Temple of Fate, and then remembers her foolish naivety in trusting Pomegranate Cookie who walks away in silence. She wakes up from her dream as her followers give her a bowl of fruit...and there's a pomegranate in it. Starfruit just waves it off as the short ends and Pomegranate's cookie is no longer on the plate.
- And for yet another poignant Bake My Day short, there’s Aloe and Bell Pepper’s, though this one is more of a happy kind of sad. It has Aloe taking some of the kid Cookies, including Bell Pepper, on a guided tour of her lab. She notices Bell Pepper gushing over some schematics and reminisces on (presumably) the incident that cost Aloe her leg and Cyborg their original body, with Aloe’s past self lying despondently before a pile of greyish-black clumps (implying that Cyborg was somehow incinerated or otherwise badly burnt). She then stands up and wipes away her tears before the flashback ends and she happily walks over to Cyborg and Ion Cookie Robot, without any regret in her heart.
- The ending of Mission! Save the Future!: one ending has String Gummy Cookie return to his proper time to see Director Croissant Cookie again. Unfortunately, due to the changes in the present timeline, he has to watch her disappear because she herself will cease to exist. The only thing that Director Croissant Cookie can do is return String Gummy Cookie to the current timeline so they have a chance at a brighter future before she fades away into dust with a heartfelt smile. The line below is said in complete and utter silence.String Gummy Cookie: (sadly) You [Director Croissant Cookie] saved me...no matter what timeline we're in.
- To make this even worse, Director Croissant had her eyes closed when she told String Gummy to go back and have a happy future, but then opens her eyes so that the last thing she sees is String Gummy. No wonder he's absolutely broken.
- Peperoncino Cookie's backstory can qualify as this. It was made clear when he was released that he felt immense Survivor Guilt over losing someone. Come January 2023, and we find out who the cookie he lost was. His son.
- Not even three minutes into Save Planet Xylitol do we have Astronaut Cookie and Space Doughnut watch an entire crew of cookies bravely sacrifice themselves to a black hole to get them to safety. Astronaut Cookie is crying in despair at seeing her crew die in front of her eyes.
