Tear Jerker / The Sweetie Chronicles: Fragments

Go To

Sweetie's journeys have taken her far and wide, but they never seem to be able to escape tragedy...

  • Sweetie Belle gets into a number of fights with the different versions of the Cutie Mark Crusaders she encounters during her travels. Sure, they tend to get resolved quickly and always before Sweetie departs, but it's painful to see True Companions like the Crusaders broken up by miscommunications and misunderstanding.
  • During her stay in The Light Never Goes Out, Sweetie gets a glimpse of what Prime!Rarity has been up to since her disappearance. The accident has left Rarity a wreck, such that she's gone days without eating and almost died from exposure due to "forgetting" to close a window during a cold snap. Combined with her interactions with Immortal!Rarity, who Never Got to Say Goodbye when her Sweetie Belle passed away, makes Sweetie realize just how much she means to Rarity, and how much she misses her big sister/mother figure.
  • The Best Night Ever has a few as it draws to the end:
    • Sweetie watching Blueblood being pulverized by one of the traps in the Death Course Twilight's fragment is residing in, and hearing that fragment's total indifference at the situation. Watching her Big Brother Mentor dying so swiftly and horribly almost breaks Sweeties resolve to keep finding Twilight's fragments, and she begins toying with the idea of killing that fragment when she finds it.
    • Sweetie dying for the first time. Even if it doesn't stick, the poor girl spends most of the morning curled up on her bed in the throws of a Heroic BSoD as the full weight of the loop comes crashing down on her.
    • Blueblood briefly relapses to his pre-character development Jerkass personality when getting back at Diamond Tiara for her treatment of Sweetie Belle. Sweetie is appalled and heartbroken that Blueblood could be so mean, even to Diamond Tiara, and regrets her own actions against the other girl several loops prior.
    • Sweetie secures the fragment and is told she has one more day before she leaves for the next universe. She begins by going to see this universe's version of her parents, since hers are dead in the prime universe, and can barely hold it together despite having a great time with them.
    • After Sweetie Belle's last day, Blueblood heads down to Ponyville to see if maybe, just maybe, she's still around, or at least remembers the good times they had. She doesn't, leaving Blueblood crushed that the one pony that shared his loop curse is gone.
