Hey, Kirby... Thanks for everything.

Notice: Moments pages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned!

  • Seeing all the Waddle Dees get kidnapped is especially sad. Even worse is that they were seemingly kidnapped after managing to establish a town where they were all more-or-less happy.
  • After failing to rescue Elfilin when he is captured by King Dedede, Kirby is left lying on the floor in despair while reaching out to his lost friend. It stands out given how rare it is to see the pink puffball in such a crestfallen state in the main series, communicating how close Kirby and Elfilin had gotten and how crushed Kirby felt to watch him be taken away.
    • When Elfilin is kidnapped, he actually screams out Kirby's own name in Japanese.
    • Following Elfilin's capture, Kirby is still able to engage in all the fun, games, and relaxation in Waddle Dee Town, but his absence both physically and in regards to his frequent commentary means it feels like there's gaping holes in every spot he hovered by or sat on, along with going between stages and side-content feeling depressingly quiet.
  • When encountering King Dedede for the first time in Co-op, Bandana Waddle Dee's face is notably filled with concern and sadness seeing his King in such a cruel state. After Dedede is defeated and Elfilin is captured, he is just as crestfallen as Kirby; only able to watch as his beloved King and his new friend Elfilin fly off into the unknown.
    • Following this, in single-player Bandana Waddle Dee leaves his perch in the lounge chair by Kirby's House and stands forlornly by the Warp Star for the remainder of the main story, expressing his worry for both Dedede and Elfilin and desire to save them when spoken to.
  • While it's fairly obvious that King Dedede would make it to the end of the game in one piece, seeing one of the series' most important characters sacrifice himself to save a single Waddle Dee is a pretty big punch in the gut, especially considering he was freed from his possession just moments ago.
  • Elfilis' backstory. Yes, they are a horrible monster that almost caused the extermination of all life on the planet (according to the tour guide) but nobody deserves to be locked up in a cramped tube and subjected to mad science experiments for over 30 years.
  • Similarly, the backstory of the Beast Pack. When the inhabitants of the new world went to the "land of dreams," they left the Beast Pack behind to survive on their own while the world fell into ruin. Add on top of that getting mind controlled by Elfilis and subsequently made to fight a nigh-unstoppable force (Kirby) and they have not had happy lives.
  • The end of the main game. Fecto Elfilis has been defeated but the portal is still open. With Popstar and the new world being drawn closer, Elfilin has no choice but to use all his power to seal the rift. Kirby reaches out a stubby pink arm as he flies away towards the rift but it's no use. With tears in his eyes, Elfilin performs a Heroic Sacrifice to save both worlds. Thankfully, he's revealed to have survived not too long after.
Elfilin: Hey, Kirby... thanks for everything.
    • It’s even sadder thinking from Elfilin’s perspective. Just as he’s finally freed for the third time, his evil half decides to destroy both his world and his beloved friend’s world out of spite. And despite his and Kirby’s efforts to stop Fecto Elfilis, the damage has been done, leaving Elfilin to use his power to close the rift. He did this just to clean up his evil half’s mess, knowing he may never see his dear friend again.
  • Forgo Leon’s boss fight really makes you feel bad for the poor lion, you can tell from his general body language that he is in a whole different world of pain from being possessed, and from his second phase onwards, his roars begin to sound less like he’s roaring in fury and more like he’s screaming in agony.
  • After Kirby defeats Morpho Knight in the post-game, it seems like Leon has died after they had beaten Forgo out of him a second time, with both Kirby and Elfilin trying in vain to get Leon's lifeless body to move and starting to tear up when they get no response. Luckily, Clawroline/Carol and the rest of the Beast Pack come in to resurrect Leon with the pieces of his soul afterwards.
