Tropes that apply to all
- Marriage of Convenience: Amelie and Paul married each other purely out of convienence after Émile's disappearance and Delia's death.
- Platonic Life-Partners: Neither of them are in any way romantically interested in each other and have been platonic best friends since high school. They're also both still reeling from the loss of their spouse.
- Remarrying for Your Kids: The driving motivation behind the two of them marrying each other was so that their kids could grow up in a stable environment after the untimely departures of a parent from their lives relatively early on in life and time in a new country..

Bio.
- Disappeared Dad: A year before the story began, he left for work early in the morning and never came back, having disappeared completely as if he vanished out of thin air. His disappearance has gravely affected his wife and daughter.
- Family Man: Émile adored his family and treasured every moment he had with them.
- Hates Being Alone: Émile suffered from mild separation anxiety and couldn't stand being alone or without friends or family, often writing to his parents at least one a week (at most, twice a day). This makes his disappearance incredibly suspicious and it's why Marionette strictly affirms that he didn't abandon her family.
Delia Johnson
Delia Johnson née Bette
Character: Original Character
Game: N/A
Parents Of: (Biological): B.B., J.J., D.D.
Tree Placement: Parents/Aunt
Bio.
- Death by Childbirth: She died giving birth to her triplets as her body couldn't handle the stress.
- Posthumous Character: She died 6 years before the story began.
- Present Absence: She is dead 6 years and gone, but the impact of her death is still felt throughout the story as it half-motivated Amelie and Paul's marriage among other things.
- The Lost Lenore: Paul still mourns her loss and misses her dearly as she was his first and only love. In a platonic extension of sorts, so do the rest of the parents.

Victor Révere
- Disappeared Dad: He and Mal are divorced and she forcefully keeps him away from her and her son via false restraining order.
- Nice Guy: He's a genuinely nice guy without a mean bone or overly awful flaws.
Maline Jenkins
- In-Series Nickname: Mal
- Jerkass: On top of committing parental alienation purely out of spite and repeatedly insult her ex-husband, she belittles both her son, her niece and her sister on a near-constant basis for no reason.
- Meaningful Name: Her name "Maline" is derived from "mal" as is her nickname which is French for evil. And boy is she a horrible person.
- Obnoxious Entitled Housewife: She's a walking-talking definition of a "Karen" minus skin-color and constantly puts her sister down and makes many demands of those around her, including children. She also flaunts her well-off status and rubs it in Amelie's face just to spite her.
