Roleplay / Fall Of Gods

Go To

The Fall of the Gods originally began as a typical Super Hero RP in the NationStates subforum, however as the power structure has passed through several hands, the RP has tonally shifted overtime, turning from a character based story, to a world spanning political plot, to even stories bordering on the Lovercraftian in nature. This has lead to some cannon inconsistency, but as it has continued the players there in have tried to maintain as best as possible.

The story itself takes place on an alternate Earth where in the Roman Empire never collapsed entirely, remaining a power well into the 20th century. Around this time, people with Super Human powers began to spring up in the nation of Londim, a nation comprised primarily of Northeastern Europe, to which the government responded with extreme hostility, becoming a police state and creating a Government Agency called HUNT to track down and kill/capture Supers. Of course, a resistance group is formed to free the repressed populace. We follow this group grow and shrink as some follow their own path, others delve deeper into HUNT, and stumble upon an illness known only as Neo-Stigma

The RP was split into 5 acts, which can be viewed here:

Act 1: The Search For Allies
Act 2: Ascenison Into Darkness
Act 3: Road to War
Act 4: Terrors of War
Act 5: Diabolus Terminus

There was a sequel to Fall of the Gods, creatively named Fall Of The Gods 2, that takes place 20 years in the future

Tropes commonly associated with Fall Of Gods

  • Blessed with Suck: Dugal, for most intent and purposes, can't die. If he is killed, he dies for a short while before his soul finds his body again, and he gets back up to continue about his day. The draw back is that every time this happens, someone in his blood line dies, and his family isn't that big.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The Ministry of Shadow is implied to house these sort of beings
    • Omega slides gently into this trope when he tries to drag Earth into the Void
  • Elemental Powers: There are a number of supers referenced to be able to control anything from Pocket Dimensions , to Gravity, to Plants
    • Snowflake can control the four 'Traditional' elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) as her particular set of powers
      • There are also a group of 'Fiends' that control their respective element to counteract Snowflake. Lily being the Fiend of Air, Micheal the Fiend of Earth, Risela the Fiend of Fire, and Captian Calhoun as the Fiend of Water
  • For the Evulz: Arguably the motivations of Reznov after he is brain washed by HUNT
  • Made of Iron: Almost the entire cast of characters
  • The Omniscient Council of Vagueness: It is not entirely clear what the true aims of the Ministry are
    • SPECTRE to an extent
