This episode has the following tropes:
- Can't Take Criticism: The reason Chef leaves the village.
- Fire-Breathing Diner: Brainy makes special spicy jelly for the ogres. As it lives up to it's name, it's spicy, which leads to Hiccup Hijinks.
- Hiccup Hijinks: Papa Smurf puts three magic balls inside a pot and gives it to the ogres. They start hiccuping and they end up floating.
- Lethal Chef: Chef, but just for this episode.
- Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Greedy is sad without Chef and his cooking.
- Rubber Man: Chef is treated like this by the ogers.
- Tickle Torture: Papa Smurf and Smurfette enter the ogres' bodies and they tickle them until they knock themselves out.
