Lazy Smurf no longer wants to miss the important moments in the Village, so Handy builds him a special alarm clock to keep him awake, but it keeps the rest of the Smurfs awake as well. When the others want Lazy to turn it off, Lazy refuses and hides in the forest, but he finds himself facing Gargamel.
This episode has the following tropes:
- Bears Are Bad News: Lazy runs into one, as his alarm clock backpack keeps on beeping. Gargamel runs into it during the episode.
- Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: The Smurfs have these for the middle part of the episode until the end.
- Mirthless Laughter: Jokey, who is also extremely tired, does a joke on a Smurf. He laughs in a unenthusiastic tone and proceeds to fall asleep like the Smurf he pranked.
- Mythology Gag: The machine Handy invents in the episode, resembles the one shown in "Happy Unhappiness Day to You" from the original series.
- No Off Button: Handy tells the other Smurfs that there is no off button for the machine.
- No Sympathy: Azrael smiles at Gargamel getting attacked by the bear in the episode.
- Recycled Animation: The fire brigade scene. Not only is it reused from "Smurf-Fu", the exact same voice clips were also reused.
- Sleep Deprivation: All of the Smurfs.
- The Runaway: Lazy runs away into the forest, after the Smurfs want him to turn off his new alarm clock backpack.
- The Voice: Once again, Grouchy is heard but does not appear in the episode.
