Tropes featured in this episode:

  • Cliffhanger: The second season finale ends with Bela at the Admissions Office asking to transfer to a different college after blowing up her relationships with Eric and the rest of the Foxy staff.
  • Dirty Coward: Kimberly, as of the finale, becomes one when she lies to poor Whitney's face about kissing Canaan.
  • First Girl Wins: Leighton and Alicia get back together.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: During her phone call rant about Essex cutting the women center's funding in half, Alicia angrily refers to President Lacey as "a giant penis who hates all women".
  • Kick the Dog: Jorja, a new writer of The Foxy, asks Bela to give her feedback on her latest work. However, instead of helping her out, she bluntly tells her to quit comedy, saying she doesn't have what it takes to be a professional comedy writer.
    • The Dog Bites Back: For this, Jorja exposes Bela on social media as a "misogynistic dictator" who hates women and herself.
  • Liar Revealed: Kimberly finds out from Zoe that he lied about inviting her to the award banquet - he wanted Kimberly to accompany him instead.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Jo gives one to Bela as she and Evangeline fire her from The Foxy over the article and Jorja's post, and do not allow her to room with them next year.
Jo: Clearly, you're the only person who lives up to your own comedy standards. So go be funny alone.
    • Bela even gives one to herself as she requests a transfer.
Bela: I was rude and disrespectful, and I feel awful about it. I came to Essex for "The Catullan." That blew up. Um...I, um, got kicked out of this new group. No one wants to work with me. I have a 1.8 GPA. I broke an amazing guy's heart by being selfish. All I want is for people to like me, but, um, I just keep hurting people instead. So I'd like to transfer.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: She doesn't say it directly, but after Whitney witnesses Kimberly and Canaan kissing and the former lies to her about it the next day, Whitney is visibly devastated and decides not to room with Kimberly next year and move to Kappa after hearing that Leighton quit.
  • Trying Not to Cry: After Whitney breaks up with Andrew, he tries to stay strong when he's giving a lab presentation, but he is unable to hide his pain and becomes a sobbing wreck.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Zoe tells Kimberly that Canaan never invited her to the award banquet, which leads to her acting on her feelings for Canaan, despite Lila trying to warn her against it for the sake of her friendship with Whitney, who saw them from afar and decided not to room with Kimberly next year after she lied to her about it. Had Kimberly not brought up the award banquet to Zoe, she would have followed Lila's advice and let her best friend be happy with Canaan.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Bela gets confronted by Evangeline and Jo over the article that's largely focused on her, rather than acknowledging their work as a team. They give her another for being brutal to Jorja, and it proves to be the last straw for them to kick her out of the magazine and they do not let her move in with them for the sophomore year.
