Recap / The Rookie 2018 S 2 E 13 Follow Up Day

Go To

Nolan's father has recently died and left him a 1970s car. Almost immediately, he is confronted by his brother (played by Peter Davidson) who punches him for the fact the car wasn't left to him. Nolan and his brother reconcile after the former sets the latter up with a stripper as well as lets him have the car.

The rookies are all assigned a bunch of cold cases by the department. Nolan and Harper investigate a robbery where a store owner's wife was killed while the only thing taken was a bunch of lottery tickets. Their leads point then to a strip club, where a dancer named Chastity recognizes the suspect on a video feed of her work. Tucker Novak, the man in the video, isn't guilty, though. Novak points them to Colt Henry who is the actual party responsible for the robbery. Colt attempts to flee and holds an infant child at gunpoint before Nolan manages to negotiate with him into giving up.

West and Lopez investigate a missing statue and find the thief trapped underneath the statue, having suffered a Potty Failure. Meanwhile, Lopez has to deal with the fact that Wesley's mother has been found with an illegal handgun that belongs to her tennis instructor (and turns out to have been used in a robbery).

Bradford and Chen investigate a case of money laundering involving a man named Nevin Cooper, who has gone through rehab and is working as a baker, but is still in debt to a gang. After encountering Cooper seemingly being threatened by the gang, Bradford later attempts negotiate with their leader, Marquel, to let Cooper be, but he refuses. They later manage to get Cooper a permanent job at the bakery that they turn into a cop hangout, forcing the gang to look elsewhere for laundering money.

Bradford takes the Sergeant's exam but turns down a position in Hollywood to stay as Chen's mentor.

  • Parental Abandonment: Nolan's father abandoned him in his early childhood.

  • Take a Third Option: Bradford and Chen turn Nevin's bakery into a cop hangout to drive off the gang threatening him.
  • Trapped in Villainy: Nevin Cooper is intimidated into helping with money laundering for his old gang.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Colt holds a child hostage with a gun and is fully prepared to kill them.
