Chapter 10: Birthday Box (End of Arc 1)

Luz and Anne avoid talking to each other, resulting in Marcy and Sasha stepping in to help.

Birthday Episode: The second half of the chapter takes place on Anne's 13th birthday.
Cliffhanger/Downer Ending: Anne ends her friendship with Luz per Sasha's advice and the girls are sent to Amphibia seperated and alone, with Luz breaking down in tears over losing her first friend.
Exact Eavesdropping: Luz overhears Sasha convincing Anne to skip school for her birthday so Anne can get her mind off of Luz kissing her.
Foreshadowing:
- Marcy shows Luz a photo of a music box she wants to get Anne for her birthday. Not only does said box have the same three gems it has in canon, but now it has a fourth one in purple.
- While at the library, Marcy gets a text from her father and leaves for home. When she calls Luz later telling her to meet the girls, she sounds frantic.
I Have This Friend: A variant. When telling her mom about kissing Anne at the dance, Luz instead says it was a guy who kissed her instead in an attempt to get unbiased advice.
In Spite of a Nail: Anne and Sasha ditch school, Marcy gets Anne to steal the music box after talking to her parents and they (along with Luz) get sent to Amphibia.
Internal Reveal: Luz tells Marcy about when she first developed feeling for Anne.
Locked Out of the Loop:
- Since Marcy left the dance early, she has to be brought up to speed on what happened between Luz and Anne.
- Neither Anne's parents or Camila have been informed of said incident, and their daughters avoid telling them about it.
Season Finale: As the name shows, this is the last chapter of "Arc 1: In The Human Realm".
Slasher Smile: Sasha gives off a grin right before Anne gives off the Wham Line.
Time Skip: The chapter begins the Monday after the dance on Saturday, then jumps to Wednesday and thus, Anne's birthday.
We Used to Be Friends: Thanks to Sasha, Anne chooses to end her friendship with Luz.
Wham Episode: Anne ends her friendship with Luz... right before she pulls out the Calamity Box, opens it, and the girls are sent to Amphibia seperated from each other.
