- Insane Troll Logic: Rachel descries herself as "modest" despite having literally blown almost every guy in school. Brittnay calls her on it, and Rachel says she was fully clothed at the time. Ergo, modest.
- Pragmatic Villainy: Mackenzie is very territorial over her lunch table, but seems to know better than to try and take over anyone else's. In particular, she won't encroach on the territory controlled by the teachers' aides, because she knows pissing off people who have any influence whatsoever over your grades is a bad idea.
- Shout-Out: Brittnay has to compare the Cheer Squad and the hipsters to the Autobots and Decipticons to get Blaine up to speed.
- Smug Snake: Both of the Jennas are in full gloating mode.
- Team Switzerland: Deandra makes it clear she is not taking sides between the cheerleaders and the hipsters. She couldn't be a hipster even if she wanted to be because she's on the football team, but she's understandably wary of aligning herself with the cheerleaders, specifically because Mackenzie's "a super crazy bitch." Deandra is doing her own thing and that's it.
