Recap / The Librarians S1 E10 "and the Loom of Fate"

Go To

The Librarians attempt to recover the Library, but Dulaque has other plans involving the Loom of Fate.

Tropes:

  • Alternate Timeline: Eve and Flynn find themselves unwittingly hopping through three different timelines where each of the LITs became the Librarian in the place of Flynn, and Eve was killed for each of them.
  • And the Adventure Continues: The season ends with the LITs heading off to Lima to deal with a case from Cassandra's clipping book, and Eve and Flynn going on a "date" involving an evil cult.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Several artifacts from past episodes are used together to bring the Library back: Ariadne's thread, one of the Libris Fabula, the witchcraft app, and a Tesla lamppost.
  • Flat-Earth Atheist: This version of Flynn eventually comes around to the idea that magic is real, but it takes an awfully long time and he goes through several technobabble-ish explanations on the way.
  • Nostalgia Filter: Dulaque is attempting to restore Camelot, which he sees as the "golden era" where mankind was at its best. During their duel, Jenkins points out the self-serving memory involved:
Jenkins: Wild magic, cruel kings, mad wizards? Oh, yes, it was a pip.
  • The Reveal: Dulaque is Lancelot du Laque of the Round Table, and Jenkins is his son Galahad.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Only Eve can remember the events of the alternate timelines, speculated to be due to her actions at the end of "The Librarians and Santa's Midnight Run".
  • Totalitarian Utilitarian: Dulaque believes humanity are weak sheep who need an iron fist to rule and thus wants to restore the order of Camelot. Jenkins points out that the "old days" were far more chaotic than the present and humanity deserves to rule themselves.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Dulaque kills Lamia to fulfill the blood sacrifice required to access the Loom of Fate.
