A Plot: Beverly's meddling in Adam's relationship with Brea leads to a confrontation with her divorced mother.

B Plot: Barry struggles to reunite the JTP following his breakup with Ren.

  • Alone Among the Couples: Barry is now the only member of the JTP without a girlfriend.
  • The Cameo: The real Brea Bee plays the role of Brea's divorced mother, and is interviewed by Adam's actor in The Tag.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Beverly can't bring herself to say "divorced", the idea being so foreign to her.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Murray briefly regrets removing all the phones in the house when he drops his pants before realizing that Vicky Bee, Brea's mom, is there and nobody called him to say there would be visitors.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Beverly tried staging an intervention with Principal Ball and Mr. Woodburn to discourage Adam, only to learn that Woodburn's divorce and subsequent dating life went incredibly smoothly and Mr. Ball (who was supposed to be the new "cautionary tale") has been in a solid relationship for 35 years.
  • Love Letter: Adam and Brea correspond via these when Murray gets upset about constantly being put on "call waiting" and removes all the phones in the house. Beverly intercepting and reading one that talks about future marriage plans is what motivates her to learn more about Brea's life and family.
  • Mistaken Identity: A Running Gag is Beverly trying to get Murray to remember people like Adam's girlfriend, and Murray completely misremembering what they look like, to the point that he at one point mistakes Brea's mom for Brea. Additionally, in the end of the B-Plot, Barry makes an impassioned apology to the JTP, and tells a group of ladies that they're fortunate to be in love...except he's addressing a group of strangers, having never met the JTP's girlfriends before.
  • Relationship Sabotage: Upset that the JTP never have time to hang out with just him anymore, he conspires to break them and the girlfriends up, using techniques such as leaving fake messages from their girls and hiring Dave Kim to act as a rival suitor. As usual, it doesn't work.
  • Same Story, Different Names: The B-plot is the same as the one from "Flashy Little Flashdancer": both Goldberg boys become jealous of their closest friends (Emmy for Adam, the JTP for Barry) spending more time on their relationships over their friendships only for their friends to point out they had no problems with the boys doing just that.
  • Scare 'Em Straight: Beverly attempts to discourage Adam from dating Brea after learning about her mom's divorce this way. First she has a (fictitious) story about someone losing all of their belongings in a settlement, and then she has an intervention with Adam's principal and a teacher.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: All of Barry's Relationship Sabotage is punctuated with the statement "Don't look for answers". So of course the JTP all look for and find answers in a matter of minutes.
  • T-Word Euphemism: Narrator!Adam calls divorce "the D-word" in reference to Bev being unable to say it.
