A Plot: Adam convinces the JTP (Jenkintown Posse) he has the skills to hack into the school computer system to change their grades. However, when Barry treats him badly to get even better grades, Adam accidentally gets Barry kicked out of the group, and must come up with a plan to get his brother back in.
B Plot: Beverly is immediately jealous when she learns Erica hangs out with a friend's cooler mom, and sets out to show Erica she can be cool too.
- Batman Gambit: Adam tricks Barry and the JTP into actually studying for their test under the pretext that he needs the information to hack the school database and change their grades.
- Counterfeit Cash: In The Tag, Bev gifts her family with various items that have her face printed on them, like a shirt and pillowcase. For Erica, who she knows won't use/wear that kind of stuff, she gives money...but they're "Bev Bucks" with her face on them, redeemable for hugs.
- Hollywood Hacking: Adam claims to be able to hack into the school database to change Barry's grades, just like in Wargames. Since it's actually next to impossible to do that in the 1980s, he does the next best thing and "hacks" Barry's brain by tricking him into studying.
- Incredibly Lame Fun: When Adam's rewarded for his "hacking" skills by letting him hang out with the JTP, he is underwhelmed with what they do for entertainment, such as eating hoagies really fast and throwing a brick into the sky, then running away before it falls on them.
- The Prankster: In order to get Barry back into the JTP, Adam prints some fake hall passes and they steal the animal mascot of a rival high school's sports team, giving Barry a reputation as this that the JTP admires.
- School Grade Hacking: Discussed. Adam claims to be able to hack into the school database to change Barry's grades just like in WarGames. Since it's actually next to impossible to do that in the 1980s, he does the next best thing and "hacks" Barry's brain by tricking him into studying instead.
