"LEAVE US ALONE!"
Written by Rashad Raisani
Directed by Scott Peters

Marcos: You said you wanted to fight.
Caitlin: I do. But there are ways to fight that don't involve battles. I have connections. I can reach out.

In an effort to reunite with one another, Reed cuts a deal with the Sentinel Services and Caitlin and the kids seek help from someone outside the compound. Meanwhile, Thunderbird begins to teach Blink how to control her powers.

Tropes:

  • Anti-Hero:
    • Andy is pretty prone to using his powers in a violent way to defend himself and his family.
    • Dreamer is willing to basically Mind Rape Blink in order to save John and the group.
  • Conflicting Loyalty:
    • Reed at first works with Jace Turner to track down the mutant underground in order to assure the safety of his family, but when he sees a mother and her little mutant child on the run (the father already being in prison) he changes his mind.
    • Danny is initially reluctant to aid his sister and her children because of their fugitive status and the reaction of some his acquaintances, but after a mob tries to attack his house he decides to help by getting a hiding spot for her and information on Reed.
  • Cool Uncle: Caitlin's brother Daniel (called Uncle Danny), although he has some reservations first, is willing to help his family despite them being wanted fugitives.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Jace Turner is seen texting with his girlfriend Paula.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Jace Turner immediately turns down Roderick Campbell's request to hand over any of the Struckers to him.
  • Fake Memories: Dreamer implants memories of her own romance with Thunderbird into Blink in order to get the latter to open a portal to help Thunderbird, Eclipse and the Struckers to escape from some armed bigots.
  • Heel Realization: Reed realizes that he can't sell out the mutant underground just to keep his own family safe.
  • More than Mind Control: Dreamer combines fake memories with mundane manipulativeness to get Blink to do what she wants.
  • Mythology Gag: The name of the episode is the codename of Bennet du Paris a.k.a. Exodus, the leader of the Acolytes in the X-Men comics.
  • Not Quite Flight: Lorna can make herself levitate when she wears enough metal.
  • Psychic Nosebleed: Polaris gets one while ripping open a door with her powers, fighting the collar the whole way. Unfortunately, it's enough to make sure that's as far as her escape gets.
  • Shaming the Mob: Daniel tries to do this to the gun-wielding neighbours who try to take Caitlin and her kids by force, but it doesn't work.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Blink has a pretty easy time figuring out that John and Dreamer have a history.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Blink compares John to Mister Miyagi.
    • Jace Turner says "Go get 'em, Tiger" to Reed when he is about to start his undercover mission, which is the iconic catch phrase of Mary Jane Watson.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: The normally eloquent Reed tells Jace Turner to shove his deal up his ass.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Daniel's son texted a friend (whom he promised not to tell anyone else) about his cousins being mutants despite them being fugitives. It almost gets everybody killed after half the neighbourhood comes to the house, armed to the teeth.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Thunderbird gives Dreamer a lot of flak for using her powers on Blink, since it's implied this previously had negative consequences.

Danny: You have to face the fact that you're not gonna see him again.
Caitlin: I love you, Danny. But you're wrong.
