Recap / The Facts Of Life Kids Can Be Cruel

Go To

Natalie wants to get revenge on Blair over a transgression involving a crush, but her plan to get back at her could result in an innocent third party being harmed.

This episode contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: It's not nice to make fun of someone because of how they look.

  • The Atoner: Following the prank, Natalie and Blair want to make up to Carl for how they've treated him.

  • Jerkass: Dink Lockwood, Blair's crush at Bates. He viciously insults Carl after he outbids him for Blair's dinner box.

  • Moral Myopia: While Natalie had a right to be upset about Blair telling Tim he had a crush on her, her method of revenge involved getting Carl Price, the outcast at Bates to bid on her dinner box, her rationale being that Blair would be humiliated by being forced to spend the night with someone everyone ridicules. She only realizes how bad this was when Mrs. Garrett calls her on it.

  • Nice Guy: Carl is a decent fellow, he even takes being set up with Blair as a joke relatively well, and he does genuinely bond with Blair at the end.

  • Pet the Dog: In the end, Blair goes to have dinner with Carl, in spite of the prank, and they have a good time about common interests in Museums.

  • Revenge: Natalie wanted to get revenge on Blair after she callously told a Bates Academy boy named Tim that she had a crush on him, and wanted him to bid on her dinner box

  • What the Hell, Hero?: Mrs.Garrett to the girls at the end. Saying that they and rest of the kids are acting like a school of piranhas.
