Tropes:

Adaptation Deviation: In the books, Holden gives the Roci's protomolecule to Fred Johnson without much fanfare. In the show, the Roci crew agrees to destroy the protomolecule, only for Naomi to give it to Fred behind their backs.
Almost Out of Oxygen: Holden almost runs out of oxygen before the crew manages to get the creature out of the cargo hold so they can rescue him.
Call-Back: Holden references Ade's death when telling Naomi not to seek revenge if he dies.
Hope Spot: The Roci cuts thrust so that the protomolecule hybrid can't cut into the reactor anymore. As a result, a gun comes near Holden's reach, letting him think he can shoot down the hybrid once and for all, only for the Roci to turn thrust on again to avoid the hybrid from getting closer to Holden. The gun promptly falls out of reach.
Internal Reveal: Holden learns that Naomi didn't actually destroy the protomolecule.
Third-Act Misunderstanding: The Internal Reveal described above.
