The Djinn (No. 43) provides examples of:

  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Nasim tortures their father while he’s nailed to a cross.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Vargas shoots Dembe after finding out what Dembe know so that he can give the information to the Cabal.
  • For Your Own Good: Bantam claims that he forced his son to have sex reassignment surgery to protect him but neither Nasim nor Red believe him.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Gerald, one of the Djinn’s clients who has a fantasy of eating his son’s drug dealer while he’s still alive.
Gerald: This man’s drugs ate my son alive.
Alice: And now you’ll deliver payment in kind.
  • Pronoun Trouble: The correct etiquette for transgender people is to refer to them by their preferred pronoun (usually corresponding with their gender identity), but the Djinn underwent gender reassignment unwillingly, and the show doesn't make clear what the character's preferred pronoun is.
  • Public Secret Message: Reddington has a way to direct Dembe to meet up with him in a classified ad for tuba mouthpieces.
  • Revenge:
    • The Djinn mostly deals with giving people their revenge fantasies, some of which are pretty horrifying.
    • Nasim Bakhash aka The Djinn is also motivated by a revenge fantasy involving torturing their father and stealing his company from under his nose.
  • Shown Their Work: Iran’s policy on the LGBT+ does give more rights to transgender people than gay people. Iran’s policy accepts the existence of transgender people and gives them the right to legally change their gender and to undergo sexual reassignment surgery.note
