Directed by: Luther Mc Laurin

Written by: Jesse Porter

A Golem that has been chasing Puss for years is closing in on him. Deciding he can no longer keep running away from it, Puss prepares to face it head-on.

Tropes:

  • Aesop Amnesia: Puss learns a lesson about not letting the orphans walk all over him, only to immediately disregard it only a few seconds afterward.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: After years of seeking Puss, the Golem developed a mind of his own. He is very gentle, kind, and likes "pretty things". However he is still bound by his orders to "Destroy Boot Cat" even though he doesn't want to. After Puss removes the command he is very grateful.
  • Exact Words: Golem can and must obey the commands he is given to how they are written. Puss makes an effort to add "gently" or other such words in his commands. Toby, on the other hand, makes very vague orders such as when he wrote "Punch" when he wanted the Golem to make him some fruit punch.
  • Freeing the Genie: After realizing the Golem is too dangerous to leave as the orphans' personal servant, Puss initially wants to simply leave it dead, but after some persuasion, he comes up with a better idea and commands the Golem to write its own command.
    Golem: "Be free".
  • Golem: A clay giant smelling of cinnamon that is brought to life by a command written on paper in his mouth.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Puss spends several hours saying goodbye to every last citizen in San Lorenzo. After that he states he must go as he doesn't like long goodbyes. One of the villagers even calls him out on this.
Villager: WE'VE BEEN HERE FOR FIVE HOURS!!
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Everyone's, except Toby's, reaction when they hear the Golem say "Punch".
  • No-Sell: Artephius decides to make the Golem look better by giving it a set of teeth. Unfortunately, when the Golem becomes aggressive again, the teeth get in the way making removing the command a significantly less trivial task than it originally was.
  • Mighty Glacier: The Golem is an unstoppable indestructible powerhouse, but he is extremely slow, as it took it five hours to reach San Lorenzo when Dulcinea was able to meet him within a short amount of time of leaving the town. Puss has managed to avoid him because Puss can smell him from miles away and has stayed very far ahead.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: In a rush to stop the Golem, having been commanded to "Punch", Dulcinea quickly writes a command "Don't hurt us". But in Puss' hurry, part of the paper gets ripped off...
    Puss: Now let us discuss—
    Golem: "Hurt us".
    Puss: Fantastic...
